7th grade General Science Course Description
This course will cover three main areas: Earth, Life and Physical Science. The two science teachers Mrs. Lindsay Espenschied and Mr. Mark Jones will work together to teach in a variety of way s, with emphasis on hands-on experiments. It is important to follow the rules of each experiment to guarantee safety and valid results.
Since we are so concerned about safety, at the beginning of the year you will need to pass a safety test, before being allowed to do any of the experiments. Later, if you misbehave during any experiment, you will receive a zero for the experiment and you will no be allowed to do any of the remaining experiments (and get a zero for all of them). Because experiments are worth about ¼ of your grade, the highest grade you could get for the course could be a 75% C.
We will be emphasizing organizational skills, so you will be expected to keep a binder containing notes, quizzes, test, vocabulary, handouts, homework, and board work questions. This will increase you ability to learn and enjoy the class.
