PBIS

What is PBIS?  PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.  More simply, it is a positive approach to  helping students learn and follow expected behavior.  The main points of PBIS are:

3 Basic rules that all students know and follow.  These are Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. (Rogers Rockin Rules or Zahnow Bulldog Bs)

Positive behavioral expectations are taught to all students at the beginning of the year and again in January.  Students are rewarded when they are caught being good and following our expected rules.  Each school has different methods for doing this but all focus on encouraging positive behavior.

When students consistently don't follow the rules they qualify for interventions, just as they would for reading or other academic concerns.  These interventions include behavior charts (check in check out), social skills groups and exclusion from rewards.  90% of our students meet our expectations on a regular basis.  Our basic interventions are successful with most of our students.  For those that still struggle, more intensive interventions can be done.

Make sure to ask your child about the Bulldog Bs or Rogers Rockin Rules and praise them for what they do well!
