Meet Mr. Smith

Who is Mr. Smith??

I graduated from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL in 1996. While at MacMurray I played baseball for 4 years, and it was my baseball connection that brought me to Waterloo.  After graduating high school in Marissa, I began playing baseball for the Waterloo Buds.  During those six years, I learned about the community and my coach Vern Moehrs told me about an opening at the Middle School (now known as Rogers Elementary).  I applied the next day and the rest is history!!

This is my 11th year teaching in Waterloo.  I spent four years teaching 5th grade at Rogers Elementary and I am currently in my 7th year at the Junior High.  I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Math and 8th Grade History during my time at the Junior High.

Throughout my 11 years in Waterloo, I have coached many sports.  I coached baseball for 9 years at WHS and 3 years at WJHS, basketball for 4 years at WHS and 4 years at WJHS, golf for 6 years at WHS, track for 2 years at WJHS and intramural basketball at Rogers for 4 years.

I recently graduated from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in Educational Administration.

When I have free time, I enjoy spending time with my family.  I have been married to my wife, Jill, for 11 years and we have two wonderful children. My daughter Calli is three and my son Jaden is two.
