We read to children for the same reasons that we talk to them: to reassure, to entertain, to bond, to explain, to inform, to arouse curiosity, and to inspire.

Why is it so important to read aloud to your child?

     *It provides a reading role model.

     *It builds vocabulary.

     *Reading aloud builds background knowledge.

     *It conditions the child's brain to associate reading with pleasure.
