Meet Mrs. MahoneyWelcome to fourth grade!We are going to have an exciting year in the new Gardner Elementary! I was excited to make the change to this new grade and new building after 20 years at Zahnow Elem.Teaching Experience:            I received my teaching degree fromSouthern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 1990.  I received myMasters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National-LouisUniversity.  My first year at Zahnow (1990-91) I worked as an aide in thelibrary.  There I had the opportunity to see and read many greatchildren's books.  I also did a lot of substituting throughout thebuilding that year.  I taught first grade in the same room at Zahnow for15 years (beginning 1991-92 school year.)   I love having the opportunity toexpose students to books and reading, and hopefully creating a love forboth.     For the 2006-2007 school year I made a change andmoved to second grade.   Thisyear I’m excited to try out fourth grade!Personal:    My husband, Sean, and I reside in Columbiawith our many pets.  We have four cats, three dogs, and severalfish.  We have both lived in Columbia since our youth.  I have ayounger brother who is married and lives in Chatham, IL, and a sister living inSt. Louis.    I like to travel during thesummer.   I also enjoy reading LOTS of books! Myemail:Please feel free to call or email me with any questions, comments,or concerns you have regarding your child's education.  I will gladlyrespond.
