MUSIC GRADING POLICY
3= Successfully meets standards (Consistently grasps and applies musical concepts, processes, and skills.)
2= Progressing (Beginning to understand and apply key musical concepts, processes, and skills)
1=Needs Support (Not yet grasping key concepts, processes, and skills)
All students are evaluated in two categories: classroom participation and music skills. Students are tested at the end of each unit of study. The music skills are assessed in a variety of ways, including (but not limited to) written tests, worksheets, classroom performances, audio and videotaping, and skill checklists. Every student is expected to participate fully in music class by singing, moving to music, playing instruments, or completing assigned small group or individual tasks. Each day I observe the students and note which ones are not participating. At the end of the quarter, the number of checkmarks each student receives for non-participation determines the number grade on the report card. 0-3 checks=3, 4checks=2, 5 or more checks=1.
