About Me

My name is Karla Bivins.  This is my 13th year as Physical Education teacher at Zahnow Elementary.  I am a graduate of Valmeyer High School and Greenville College.  In both High School and College, I was very active in sports.  I played volleyball and softball and ran track.

After graduating from college I began teaching PE and Health at Valmeyer CUSD #3.  I coached volleyball and softball, drove a school bus, and was the sponsor of many clubs and organizations.   I taught at Valmeyer for 12 years before becoming the K-2 PE teacher at Zahnow. Since the school transitions, I am now the Kindergarten and First Grade PE teacher at Zahnow and the Second Grade PE teacher at Roger's Elementary.

I have three wonderful daughters, Lauren, Ashley, and Michele.  Lauren is a 911 Dispatcher.  She is married and has 3 beautiful daughters, Sam, Jessie, and Reese.  Ashley works at a local daycare and is also attending SWIC.  She is studying to become a nurse.  Michele is a fresman at McKendree University.  She is majoring in Business and hopes to own her own company some day.

I like to read, spend time with my family, go on vacations,  and play sports.  I am very glad to be a teacher at W.J. Zahnow and Roger's Elementary.  I love working with young children, playing, learning, and having fun!
