III.  Scripts

A Must have 2 commercials that total 60 seconds.

B. Music – no cuss words may be included in lyrics.

1.Must be approved by teacher

2.Radio – cannot go beyond 4 minutes

3.TV – Cannot go beyond 4 minutes and students must do the video.  It may not be taped off of a TV show.

C. Rest of script must consist of 10 – 14 minutes of:

1.News

2.Sports

3.Talk

4.Documentary

5.Educational

6.Soap Opera

7.Game Show

D. All material must be appropriate.  Material may not include any context to:

1.Drugs

2.Alcohol

3.Sexual preferences

4.Cult or gang symbols or dress

V.  Taping Video

A. Must tape on their own time with their own equipment.

VI.  Caution for Broadcasts

A. Get a program concept – make sure logo goes with context.

B. Careful with paper and mic so you don’t rattle or have “wind” sounds.

C. Careful with background lights.  It will make you look dark.

D. Make sure to have a lead-in and a sign-off.

VII.  Time Scoring

Point System for Mass Media Broadcast

For your tape, I will be looking for these things:

 Time: if the video is short by these many minutes, you will lose the following points

15:15 – 14:45      -0

16:00 – 15:16      -1

16:30 – 16:01      -2

18:00 – 16:31      -3

2 consecutive minutes    -5

14:44 – 14:15      -3

14:14 – 14:00      -5

13:59 – 13:45      -8

13:44 – 13:15      -10

under – 13:14      -13
