General Announcements
Students…final reminder that upon arrival to school you must exit your vehicle and enter the school building. Also, be sure to use one of the two crosswalks for safety reasons.
So far, with 8 more school days to compete this month, we have 6 classrooms tied to win the doughnut reward party for having the fewest amount of late arrivals to 1st hour. The top 6 classrooms are: Mr. Biffar, Ms. Reynolds, Ms.Wirth, Mr. Mattis, Mr. Livengood and Mr. Rader.
Be sure to check the lost and found table in the cafeteria. There are quite a few items on the table, and any items not claimed will be donated.
There will be an Orange Crush Carnival on Monday, September 23 from 3-4 PM in front of the concession stand.
Join us for games and snacks and cheer on the soccer team against Jerseyville.
Potential NHS candidates, please remember that your applications are due today by 3 pm. Late applications are not accepted. Please see Mr. Brueggeman in B210 if you have any questions.
Spanish Club game night is next Tuesday at 3:00, food and drink provided. Sign up in Señora Jones' room.
If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, be sure to check out Monroe Actors Stage Company’s performance of Oklahoma! Show times are tonight and Saturday @ 7:30, and Sunday @ 2:30 at the Capitol Theatre. Some of our own WHS students will be performing.
There will be a meeting for Spain in 2021 this Tuesday in the Library at 6 pm. If interested bring your parents. See Sra Koeneman if unable to attend.
Good luck to the Marching Band tomorrow at the Edwardsville Tiger Ambush Classic competition.
Come support the Waterloo School District by participating in the 4th Annual Bulldog Color Run/Walk on September 28th. The race starts at 5:30 pm at the Gardner Soccer Fields. Registration forms can be found online or in any of the school offices. Fees may be paid by check, cash or on WCUSD#5 Webstore at wcusd5.net. Please issue checks to WCUSD5 Memo Line: Color Run. Registration is $30.00 for the first 4 family members, 5 or more is $15. Bring the whole family and join the fun!!!
Guidance
The military will have a representative at the high school on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 to administer the ASVAB Career Exploration Program at 8:30 am to any Sophomore through Senior who wishes to take it. This test measures the student’s strengths and weaknesses in English, Math, Science, and technical/vocational areas. Results are useful in determining a student’s career options. Interested students need to come to Guidance to sign up by Monday, Sept 30.
Hey Juniors! Want to get a head start on doing well on the SAT? Then sign up NOW to take the PSAT/MNSQT on October 16th. It's a great, inexpensive way to practice, and you can use your results to create an individualized practice plan on Khan Academy. If you do really well, you could have the opportunity to receive scholarships based on your score. To reserve your spot, you must bring a $16 check to put your name on the list in the Guidance office. Please see your counselor if there is a financial barrier preventing you from signing up.
