Have you noticed the hydroponic tower by the nurses's office? The tower garden is a vertical hydroponic plant growth system. Vertical hydroponic gardens/farms are being research as options to produce more food in a smaller amount of space. This is becoming more important as the agriculture industry is adjusting to the food demands of the growing population. Epcot Center at Disney uses the same type of tower gardens. Epcot produces the vegetables that are served in Disney primarily with hydroponic production.The tub has water and liquid nutrients for the plants. The pump cycles on and off providing water to the plants. Water should run for 15 minutes followed by 30 minutes of no water flow. The lights are LED grow lights. They are on from about 6 am until 7 pm to provide the plant enough light to complete photosynthesis. The tower has 3 different plants in it - lettuce, kale, and spinach. Boys basketball team pictures for grades 6,7, and 8 will be on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12th during study hall. All boys basketball team members should check in with their study hall teacher at the beginning of study hall then report to the gym for pictures.Don't forget your uniform!
