ESSER III Public Comment

The WCUSD #5 ESSER III Funding Committee met on February 18, 2022 to determine how best to distribute the $988,094 of ESSER III funds provided by the American Rescue Plan. The purpose of the funds is to address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the district's students. The committee consisted of teachers from each school building, the principal of each building, district parents, and board members. 

The following expenditures are proposed:

 

·  2021-2023 - Additional K-3 Reading Teacher - Two Years ($165,000)

·  2021-2023 - (3) Elementary Class Size Reduction Teachers - Two Years ($299,000)

·  2022-2023 - Additional Social Worker at Waterloo High School - ($72,000)

·  2022-2023 - Additional Elementary Social Worker - ($72,000)

·  2022-2023 - Summer/Before/After School Curriculum Planning ($38,000)

·  2022-2024 - Teacher Professional Development ($118,000) 

·  2021-2023 - “Learning Loss” Tutoring, SEL, Focused SH - ($31,000)

·  2022-2024 - AimsWeb Benchmarking/Progress Monitoring Subscriptions - ($27,000)

·  Summer School Salaries/Benefits/Supplies for 2022 Summer School ($48,500)

·  Technology Devices and Supplies ($110,000)

·  Remainder of 2021 Instructional Paraprofessional ($7,594)
