Transition to Remote Learning

Waterloo CUSD #5 Families,

We continue to evaluate how to best meet the educational needs of our students while also responding appropriately to the spread of COVID-19 throughout our community and region.  In consultation with the Monroe County Health Department, we have initiated a transition to Remote Learning:

  • Waterloo High School -  Remote Learning began November 16, 2020.

  • Waterloo Junior High -  Remote Learning begins November 23, 2020.

  • Waterloo Elementary Schools -  Remote Learning begins November 30, 2020.

  • All students will remain Remote for the week after Thanksgiving.

We have identified December 7, 2020, as a possible date for transition back to in-person learning. However, this will be dependent on positivity rates in Monroe County and hospitalization rates in our region.  We will communicate the week after Thanksgiving whether regular attendance for any of our students can resume on December 7. We remain hopeful, but all parents should be prepared for the possibility of Remote Learning to continue through Christmas break.

We will continually evaluate local and regional conditions and work to resume in-person learning opportunities as soon as possible.  Please be safe and help us reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
