General Announcements

 

Congratulations to the WHS Marching Band who took home a ton of hardware at last weekends Drums at Appletime Competition. The band took home best Parade Percussion, Best Parade Guard, Best Parade Music, AAA Parade Grand Champions, Best Field Drum Majors, Best Field Percussion and 2nd place overall in field. The band is back in Double A Action this weekend as they travel up to Edwardsville for the Tiger Ambush Classic. Performance time is 3:00 pm so come out and support the band!

 

Last call for Homecoming t-shirts! The deadline for ordering has been extended until today.  So be sure to place your order during lunch.  Cost is $10, and the shirts will be delivered Oct. 7.

 

Potential NHS candidates, please remember that your applications are due this Friday by 3 pm.  Late applications are not accepted.  Please see Mr. Brueggeman in B210 if you have any questions.

All stage/tech crew and extras need to report to Drama practice today.

 

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, be sure to check out Monroe Actors Stage Company’s performance of Oklahoma!  Show times are Friday and Saturday @ 7:30, and Sunday @ 2:30 at the Capitol Theatre.  Some of our own WHS students will be performing.

 

There will be a meeting for Spain in 2021 this Tuesday in the Library at 6 pm.  If interested bring your parents. See Sra Koeneman if unable to attend.

 

Come support the Waterloo School District by participating in the 4th Annual Bulldog Color Run/Walk on September 28th. The race starts at 5:30 pm at the Gardner Soccer Fields. Registration forms can be found online or in any of the school offices. Fees may be paid by check, cash or on WCUSD#5 Webstore at wcusd5.net.   Please issue checks to WCUSD5 Memo Line: Color Run.  Registration is $30.00 for the first 4 family members, 5 or more is $15. Bring the whole family and join the fun!!!

Guidance

 

Hey Juniors! Want to get a head start on doing well on the SAT?  Then sign up NOW to take the PSAT/MNSQT on October 16th.  It's a great, inexpensive way to practice, and you can use your results to create an individualized practice plan on Khan Academy.  If you do really well, you could have the opportunity to receive scholarships based on your score.  To reserve your spot, you must bring a $16 check to put your name on the list in the Guidance office.  Please see your counselor if there is a financial barrier preventing you from signing up.

Athletics

Congratulations to the Varsity, JV, and Fresh/Soph Volleyball teams on their victories over Jerseyville last night!

Soccer team won again to improve to 10-2 on the season by beating Highland 4-0 last night.  Kyle Stewart had 2 goals and Derek Young and Dalton Blanchard had the others.  Assists went to Eli Gardner, Mason Springer, Jake Cooling and Hayden Reese.  JV won 2-0 to improve to 8-1.
