Parents,

I apologize for the inconvenience, but all schools in Waterloo CUSD #5 will be closed tomorrow.  We sustained vandalism to Waterloo Junior High School early Saturday morning.  During this incident, the individuals emptied a fire extinguisher into the building causing significant clean up necessary on both the first and second floor of the building.  We have consulted with our environmental company, local health department, and local fire department, who have all agreed that air quality testing should be completed prior to students and employees returning to the building.  We are hopeful this can be completed tomorrow.  We will provide an update with you tomorrow afternoon regarding attendance on Tuesday.

Due to logistical issues with closing one building versus all buildings, at least for tomorrow, we are declaring tomorrow an "emergency day" for all buildings.  I'm hopeful we have communicated in time for you to make childcare arrangements for tomorrow and maybe you can enjoy one more day of spring break.

Again, I apologize for the inconvenience, and please anticipate another message tomorrow afternoon to confirm ​school ​attendance at our schools on Tuesday, April 7.
