WJHS would like to congratulate Mr. Dahm on being recognized as the Staff Member of the Month! This year, Mr. Dahm covers a variety of classes for us at WJHS. He teaches 6th and 7th grade math and also has a section of 6th grade social studies. Students and colleagues appreciate his easy going demeanor and willingness to help wherever he is needed!

If you are coming to see us during Parent Teacher Conferences today or Monday, please stop in the cafeteria and take a look through the LOST & FOUND. It is overflowing! Items that are not claimed by Thanksgiving break will be donated to local charities.

All WJHS students are invited to attend tomorrow night!

We encourage all students to participate in these dress up days for Red Ribbon Week!

Congratulations to our Cross Country team on their excellent showing in the State tournament this weekend. The boys team took 3rd place, led by Ren Gilbert, who earned an individual medal for 9th place! Our girls team earned 2nd place, led by our individual state champion medalist, Lydia Huffman! Go Dogs!

We are pleased to announce our 1st quarter Students of Character! Each quarter, 9 teachers select one student that they feel represents all-around excellent character. These students receive a medal, a certificate and write up from the teacher who nominated them, and their photos are displayed in our main hallway all year. Congrats to our 1st quarter recipients!

WJHS is pleased to announce the October Staff Member of the Month is Mrs. Stevens! She teaches 7th and 8th grade Science classes and also serves on the Problem Solving Team in our school. We know we can always count on Mrs. Stevens to share ideas and solutions to tackle issues and obstacles at school. She is a thoughtful, proactive teacher who truly wants to see all her students succeed! Congrats, Mrs. Stevens!

Last week, we recognized the WJHS students pictured here as recipients of the Bulldog Trait of the Month for September. All month we talked about the importance of being OPTIMISTIC, and staff members nominated these students for showing that trait. Choosing to look for the good in things and keeping a positive outlook when challenges arise are two key ways that our students can practice optimism, which is an important part of being a resilient person. Congrats to these WJHS students on their award!

In celebration of our district's Homecoming Week, WJHS students are invited to participate in some fun dress up days!

WJHS would like to thank Mr. Lucash and the students in his construction classes at WHS for making a couple of new picnic tables for our students to use during recess. We are putting them to good use, as you can see!

The WJHS chapter of FCA will have its first meeting next Tuesday evening from 6-7:30pm in the WJHS cafeteria. All WJHS students are welcome to attend!

Our collection drive is off to a good start! We are collecting snacks, entertainment items, and personal hygiene items for local Garden Place residents for ONE MORE WEEK! Students should turn items in to their study hall teachers.

Our 1st quarter behavior incentive is well underway! Our goal is to encourage good behavior decisions each day. Here are the dance details! We think it will be a 'spooktacular' time!

The 1st quarter Service Project for WJHS is a donation drive for items for local nursing home residents. In addition to coloring cards for residents, we're having a friendly competition between study hall classes to see who donates the most personal hygiene, entertainment, and snack items from our list. Students can turn items in to their study hall teachers through Sept. 30. Thanks for helping us show support to others in our community!

As we remember the events of 9/11/2001, WJHS students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue on Wednesday, Sept. 11 in honor of Patriot Day.

Congrats to Deb Eichholz for being nominated as the WJHS Staff Member of the Month. Mrs. Eichholz is a paraprofessional who works with sixth and eighth grade students. She shows flexibility, patience, and kindness while working with students and staff alike, and anticipates what needs to be done and does it with a smile. We are very fortunate to have her at WJHS!

You suggested, we listened! We have a new cabinet located between the doors at the CIRCLE DRIVE at WJHS that will be used for homework requests for absent students. Work will not be placed in the cabinet until 3pm each day, but will be available for pick-up all evening long. Just raise the red switch on the bottom right to open the cabinet. Students' work will be stacked and clipped together with their name on the top sheet.

WJHS is so grateful for community partners, like Grant from Scott Credit Union, who surprised us with a delivery of several bags full of new school supplies for our classrooms and students who need them! Thank you for investing in our students and our schools!
