The WJHS baseball season recently kicked off with a special celebration of some amazingly dedicated local coaches. WJHS Coach Mark Vogel and SPPCS Coach Jim Helfrich have a combined total of over 60 years of dedication to youth baseball in our area! We are grateful for folks who commit so much time and energy investing in our students!
Next Tuesday, Aug. 27th, is picture day at WJHS! Order forms will be handed out in study halls this week, so look for those coming home with your student. You can also use the information on the image to order online directly. Here's to a year full of smiles ahead!
We've had a great start to the year at WJHS!!
This is a friendly reminder that on Mondays ( starting this Monday, August 19th)., WJHS will run a late start schedule.. Classes start at 8:35 a.m. on Mondays. Busses will run the normal schedule. Doors will still open at 7:35 a.m. for students that arrive at the normal school time. Students will report to the gyms until dismissed at 8:27 a.m.

As a reminder, supply drop & schedule walks will be Wednesday, August 7 (last names A-K) and Thursday, August 8 (last names L-Z) from 6:00-7:30. Administrators will meet briefly with 6th graders and new students and their families in the cafeteria at the beginning of the evening. Otherwise, you may come and go as you please!
To avoid standing in line for a schedule when you arrive, please print off a copy of your child’s schedule before you come. Your child’s locker number will not appear on the schedule that you print, but can be found on Skyward under the student information tab. Schedules and maps of the building will be located on the table at the main entrance for those that need them. You may park in the lot behind the main gym, in the parking lot across from the north building, or in front of the school, but should enter at the main entrance.
Also, we have sent out an email to all guardians that includes a short presentation with key information for all parents and students to know as the year begins. Please check your email for access to that information!

Our STATE CHAMPS were recognized at the Waterloo City Council meeting on Monday evening. Thank you, Mayor Darter and Council members, for your support and recognition of our outstanding student athletes! Go Dogs!
There were LOTS of items left behind when the students cleared out last week! If your student is missing a lunchbox, water bottle, sweatshirt, coat, or pair of shoes, it might be in our lost and found! Please come by WJHS between 8am-3 pm to look through and claim any items. We will be clearing everything out by May 30th.
The final Bulldog Trait of the Month at WJHS this year was for students who showed that they were RESILIENT. The concept of resilience was something we highlighted all year long and included in our school pledge for the year. The students pictured were selected by a staff member for how they overcame obstacles, tackled setbacks, and worked through challenges. Congratulations!

We are so excited to share that the WJHS Girls Track Team WON first place at the state competition today! Help us welcome them home! There will be a procession through downtown Waterloo around 6:30 that will end at WJHS. If you can come out and show your support, that would be great! Spread the word!
We are pleased to recognize Mrs. Michelle Miller as our Staff Member of the Month for May! Mrs. Miller teacher 6th grade math and has served as the WJHS math department chairperson for several years. We appreciate her dedication to helping her students learn and grow in her class and beyond. Her positivity and care for her students are assets to our school community!
Congratulations to the WJHS Students of Character for the 4th quarter! Each year, WJHS teachers get the chance to select one student who they feel shows excellent character. The final group to receive this award for the year includes (front row L-R) Jason Jones, Jr., Rosie Brennan, Hannah Korves, Ella Blair, (middle row L-R) Evan Rahn, Rilyn Marquardt, (back row L-R) Braden Balabas, Makenna Edler, and Emery Bockhorn. We are proud of you all!
WJHS recently presented awards to the recipients of the Bulldog Trait of the Month for April. The students pictured were selected by a staff member for being CURIOUS. Their desire to learn, ask questions, and understand how things work is a trait that is highly desired in the school setting and in life! Congratulations!
Congratulations to our Staff Member of the Month for April - Mr. Justin Voracek! He is the hard-working, always willing to help, maintenance man at WJHS. We appreciate all he does to keep things up and running smoothly in our 'quirky' building!
We are so excited to share that our girls' track team brought home the regional championship plaque yesterday! Pictured are team members who participated in the regional meet. Our track program has had a great season so far - setting several school records and winning several meets along the way. Good luck to our boys' and girls' team members who qualified in events for the upcoming state level track competition! Go Bulldogs!
Good morning parents. The 8th graders will be taking the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) on Wednesday morning. They will be taking three tests from approximately 7:55-11:15. Please have them here and on time if possible. If they are unable to attend, we will do make-ups on Thursday. Thanks!
Congratulations to the cast and crew of the WJHS play, "Murder on the 518" for amazing performances last week! Special thanks to Ms. Kreinberg and Ms. Briesacher for their time and dedication to helping our students shine on stage! Bravo!
We are excited to share that our Spring service project was a huge success! Collectively, our students brought in 455.8 lbs of caps and lids to donate to the WCP park bench project for the Waterloo Community Splash Pad. We had a fun competition between study halls to see which class at each grade level could donate the most. The winning classes were: 6th grade - Mr. Beck, 7th grade - Ms. Hitpas, and 8th grade - Mrs. Diener! Thank you to the family members who donated to this great cause!
Come out tonight or tomorrow night to support the WJHS Drama Club! Play begins at 6:30pm in the auditorium at WHS.
