
WJHS is excited to announce that two of our 6th graders competed successfully in the Regional Science Fair recently. Peter Kennedy (left) earned a First Place Rating. Dominic Johnson (right) earned a First Place Rating and Best of Math and Physics categories for Junior Division. Congratulations!


Congratulations to these students who recently earned the 3rd Quarter Students of Character Award! Each year staff members get to select one student who represents all around great character. Winners this quarter were (front row L-R) Dalton Davis, Nathan Koch, Jaxon Pigg, (middle row L-R) Dominic Johnson, Nichole Gum, Evelyn Deutch, (back row L-R) Chase Richey, Addie Stell, Drew Selck.


We are excited to share that our WJHS Bowling teams brought home some serious hardware at the State Tournament this past weekend! Both the boys' and girls' teams placed 2nd in the State of Illinois. We also had 3 individual medalists. Congrats to Quinn Ahrens - 3rd place girls, Alissa Wisely 2nd place girls, and Sam Beck - boys state champion!

WJHS would like to thank and congratulate Mrs. Donna Riebeling for being selected as the March Staff Member of the Month! Mrs. Donna is the head cook at our school. She and her team do a wonderful job serving and making sure our students are well-fed for breakfast and lunch each day. Thanks, Mrs. Donna, for all that you and your staff do to make sure an important part of our students' basic needs are met.


WJHS recently recognized the recipients of the Bulldog Trait of the Month for February. The students pictured were selected by staff member for showing COMPASSION. We appreciate students who set an example for those around them by speaking and acting kindly toward others!


Waterloo Junior High Girls and Boys are your SIJHSAA North Regional Champions!! Shout out to Quinn Ahrens, who was the Girls Individual Regional Champion! We are so proud of both of our teams! Congrats to our athletes and coaches!

Congratulations to the WJHS Scholar Bowl team and coaches, Mr. Toennies and Mrs. Rau, on a phenomenal season. They won the Regional Championship this weeked and have a 19-3 season record! Great job!


For a spring service project, WJHS has partnered with Waterloo Citizens for a Pool to collect specific plastic items that will be made into tables and benches at the Waterloo Splash Pad coming soon! Study Halls will compete in the month of March to donate the greatest weight of acceptable items for this recycling drive. See the graphic for details, and start saving and sending these items in with your student!

Congratulations to the 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams on their success at the Highland Tournament over the weekend. 7th grade brought home 2nd place and 8th grade (pictured) was undefeated for a first place finish! Go Dogs!

Next week, Student Council has organized some dress up days to coincide with Kindness Week. We invite all students to participate and focus on being kind in how they speak and act toward one another.


It is our pleasure to announce that Mr. West has been named the WJHS Staff Member of the Month for February! Mr. West has served in many capacities since joining the staff in 2022. He has served students as a PE teacher and Special Education teacher, coached track, boys' baseball, and girls' basketball, and taken on JH Athletic Director duties. He is a true team player and we appreciate all he does to make WJHS a great place for students!


WJHS is proud to recognize these students who were selected to receive the Bulldog Trait of the Month award for January. Our trait this month was CREATIVE! Staff members nominated students who express creativity in all kinds of ways - art, music, problem-solving, writing, and more!

WHS will be hosting an 8th grade parent night on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 6:30 in the WHS Auditorium. The WHS counselors and administrators will be there to discuss the transition to the high school. Additionally, WHS counselors will be working with 8th grade students the following week on scheduling classes for next year.

See information below regarding 8th grade night for boys basketball and cheerleading! Come out to support these teams in their last regular home game of the season. Teams will be recognized prior to the start of the 8th grade game.

WJHS would like to congratulate Ms. Tina Seymour on her recent recognition as Staff Member of the Month for January! Ms. Seymour is a paraprofessional in our building and also serves as the Director of Kennel Klub for the Waterloo District. Ms. Seymour is a positive, encouraging, and helpful member of our school community. We appreciate all she does to help our students succeed in school!


As we settle into the new year, we are doing a school-wide 'reset'! Staff members are reiterating school expectations, and students are being encouraged to take some time to think about their progress so far. We want to help them recognize and celebrate their successes or reset goals in areas they want to work on in the second half of the school year!
